Make a PDF under 1 MB

Government portals, recruitment systems and university application sites love the 1 MB hard cap. A single scan blows past it. You need the file at 0.9x MB, verified, in one attempt.

Frequently asked questions

Will my text stay selectable?
Yes, whenever the target size allows it. We first try a lossless rebuild, then downsample embedded images โ€” text and vector content are never touched in those passes. Only if the file still cannot reach the cap do we fall back to a high-quality image mode, and the result page tells you exactly which strategy was used.
What if my PDF simply cannot reach the target size?
You get a clear message with the smallest size the file can actually reach โ€” before you pay anything. We never sell you a file that misses the cap, because that means another rejected upload.
Is my document uploaded to a cloud drive?
No. The file is processed for this one task only and is automatically destroyed after 24 hours. There is no storage, no folder, no account history of your documents.
Do I need an account to try it?
No. Upload, compression and the watermarked preview are free with no signup. You only log in and pay $0.99 when you want the clean, final file.
Why is my scanned PDF larger after this than a text PDF?
Scans are photographs โ€” their size lives in image data, which is exactly what gets compressed. A 20-page scan will compress far more than a text-only report of the same size, simply because there is more image data to reclaim.

When this tool is not the right choice

You have Adobe Acrobat or similar desktop software and need lossless PDF/A archiving.
Use the desktop optimizer โ€” it can re-encode with more control, at the cost of installing and learning it.
The portal accepts ZIP files.
Zipping a PDF shrinks almost nothing (PDFs are already compressed). Real compression like this tool is the right move.
Your PDF is encrypted with a password.
Remove the password first (we cannot process encrypted files), then come back.
